Phoenix Greenman is not my birth name. I
took the first name, Phoenix, after many difficult challenges in my life
where it felt like I had died and from the ashes I was reborn.
Hopefully better and wiser then before, but that is not always for a
person to decide, but is reflected in their actions. One of the reason, I
believe, that I had troubling facing so many of these challenges I was
not true to who I was supposed to be. Instead of being me I tried to
live the life that others thought I should live, which brought me little
happiness. So in this latest incarnation I took the last name of
Greenman, the ancient Druidic spirit of nature, where if I am true to
who and what I am the challenges I face will not seem so overwhelming.
Instead they offer me a chance to learn and grow in all aspects of my
life.
What got me into massage was after a breakup I found myself alone and
was wondering what to do with my life. Instead of conforming to what
others said I should do I decided it was time to live life for me. After
all, I was single, all the children (five total) were grown and I was
still fairly young. So after 12 years of working at Intel, doing Tech
support, I quit my job enrolled in massage school and became the healer I
always was.
My philosophy is simple I believe that living in pain, whether due to
aging or other conditions, is not inherently necessary. Managing pain
through medication can be a useful tool, but long-term pain management
through medication should be used as a last resort. Visceral
(abdominal) massage, lymphatic (immune) massage and deep tissue massage
are effective treatments to manage, reduce and in some cases eliminate
pain. Working together, we can identify treatments that work for you.
Phoenix is my shield against pain – RW
I earned my LMT certification in 2008 from East-West College where I
studied Swedish and Deep Tissue massage. Along with my formal training I
also studied and focused on Visceral (abdominal) Manipulation,
Lymphatic (immune) Drainage.
